Feeling small again

Recent shoot, TheStudioCoach, photo tip No Comments

Last week I did a shoot in a tire distribution centre. They have tires up to 7” high and as small as 12” high… I felt like a kid in a toy store… The job of lighting the tires was another ballgame 5 lamps were needed to bring out the luster and pattern of the rubber; 5 Aurora Unilever Pros flashes head, 4 softboxes and 1 reflector w/honeycomb grid did the job.

The texture of black on black is the toughest challenge of it all. It had to be created by the small softbox on the left, that was nearly handheld by my asistant to achieve the perfect match for THIS particular tire.

The final image was balanced in Adobe RAW, enhanced using the Whyeth preset in LucisArt and framed with a GraphicAuthority template.

See the finished image and a studio setup plan.
