The Hoodman RAW CF card
“The fastest and most reliable card ever” they said. I had heard that soooo many times, “why don’t you try it” they offered. I got 2 on that day. Wow, just taking the card in the hand tells you there is something different, it weight close to double the weight of standard cards… And for speed of writing, I can shoot up tp 18 Raw/Full jpg with my Olympus E-3 before we hit a delay, when I only reach 14 with my 133X card and 11 on the Ultra card…. Numbers say it all. And there is also the Firewire/UDMA reader that transfers to your computer with lightning speed…
The other do-not-leave-home-without-it tool is the “Loupe”. This Hoodman loupe allows you to shade your view of the viewfinder, allowing a clear view even in bright sunlight. It hangs in your neck with a very comfortable rubber lanyard. When you want to look at your image just push the disply button and put your pyramid shaped loupe on the screen and you see the image without the interference of the light. The loupe is equiped with a focusable eyepiece and covers the full screen. On a recent workshop I’ve lended my loupe to some students that could not even change the modes on their cameras due to ambient light..
