Leilani Franco est contorsionniste au Cirque Éloize. Jean-François a travaillé avec elle il y a 2 ans, et hier elle est revenu vers lui pour des images à date. Bien des choses se sont passées en 2 ans et Leilani désirait un portrait témoin de ce qu’elle est devenue. Jean-François a donc réalisé ce portrait où il dit ressentir les pensées et la nostalgie de Leilani, artiste de renommée internationale, ayant foulé les planches des plus grands cirques du monde, de retour à Montréal.

Leilani est actuellement en spectacle à Montréal, au Vieux Port à l’occasion du spectacle ID.

AutoPano Pro 2… work of art

I have upgraded to Autopano Pro2 this week, I was keeping this moment for the panos I did shoot in California last week. Here are 2, the color one is done with 18 images as 6 vertical images shot in braketing of N, +1 and -1. The second one is based on 5 infrared images from my IR modified Olympus 510, stitched on Autopano Pro2 and then ajusted in Photoshop for a bit of low-light enhance and turned black and white in Silver Efex from NIK.

Portraits with Zoom Lenses
So you’re sitting there with your DSLR, and you have a zoom lens. You take a portrait picture, and you say to yourself “ewww.. that’s not what I saw behind the camera at all! Why does her face look so big?!?” Jean-Francois O’Kane from The Studio Coach walks us through the problems of distortion and how it appears on lenses with a portrait. Simply – shoot at the furthest focal length of your lens and you’ll be good. What happens if you don’t? Well, check out the video to see:

The art broker

Just did a quick natural light portrait of a young entrepreneur lady who deals as an art broker for classic and modern decorative art. Ive reframed her with a frame she had in her office, processed the raw image and masked the Nik Silver Efex layer with the shape of the frame… 3 minutes and a great WOW factor.

Landscape and bodyscape workshops

The 2 last editions of TheStudioCooach Landscape and Bodyscape workshops were held in Sutton Quebec and in London Ontario. The participants were thrilled by how photography of a the figure study becomes easy and rewarding by adopting a new look on the subject. Men and women as well took part as photographers and all have brought a cynergy to each workshop. The event will be held in the 2 cities next summer, contact me for resevations. Of course the workshops are a place to learn about photography but over everything a place to learn to stop and look and then release the shutter. No corners are cut as al participants are sked to shoot it right to minimize the postproduction work. The PhotoMasterTarget is used to achieve exact exposure and white balance, often very hard to figure in shadow or open reflection area.
